Brooklyn’s badass afro-beat / funk / soul collective The Budos Band is, thankfully, a restless bunch. They released their third album — surprisingly titled III late in 2010, and have been supporting it on tour ever since. Which is great, because the band is even deadlier live than it is on record (and if you’ve had a listen, you know their recorded output is razor sharp).

The band has just announced a new slate of tour dates for spring 2011 (below), and have added another weapon to their ass-shaking arsenal: fellow Daptone Records label mate Charles Bradley. Bradley’s heartfelt and deeply soulful album, No Time for Dreaming, which dropped earlier this year, stands a good chance of hitting our “Top 10 of 2011” list — so, this is a bill worth catching if it comes to your town.

Looking for a taste of the Budos live before dropping cash on tickets. Check out this video of the group playing its song “Budos Rising” during a show at the Mohawk in Austin, TX in August of 2010.

Said Budos baritone sax man Jared Tankel of the performance, “We showed up to the Mohawk in Austin on a hot, dusty August afternoon. They told us to be ready for a big night. The place holds 500 or so, so we figured we were in for a good old fashioned hot, sweaty Texas dance party. Then 800 people showed up and packed it out. It was f*&#ing insane. The Lone Stars and Shiner Bocks were flowing. Plus they have the best Green Room we’ve ever been to. Use your imagination …”
